CrewAI is hiring its first HR Operations Manager to own the systems, processes and policies behind hiring, paying, supporting and growing its people. The role works closely with leadership, hiring managers, finance and legal, and the focus is building clean HR infrastructure that scales, not just keeping existing processes running. This is a full-time, remote role based in the United States.
What you will do
- Own HR operations end to end, from HRIS administration and employee records to payroll coordination and benefits for a distributed global team.
- Design and run onboarding and offboarding, including a strong first 30 days for new hires and compliant exits.
- Build and maintain HR policies, handbook content and leave-of-absence processes.
- Keep the company compliant with federal, state and local employment law as it grows.
- Work with Finance on payroll accuracy, benefits invoicing and headcount reporting, and with hiring managers on a smooth employee journey from offer to exit.
- Build people reporting and metrics covering headcount, attrition, time to onboard and benefits use.
- Find manual, error-prone HR processes and fix them with better process, tooling or automation.
You may be a fit if you
- Have 4 or more years of HR operations experience, ideally at a fast-growing startup where you built processes rather than only running them.
- Have hands-on ownership of an HRIS such as Rippling, Gusto, BambooHR or Workday, plus payroll and benefits administration.
- Know US employment law and multi-state compliance, including when to bring in legal counsel.
- Lean toward scalable systems while knowing when a quick manual fix is the right call.
- Handle sensitive data with care and communicate clearly in writing and in person.
- Are comfortable with ambiguity and building an HR operations function with limited direction.
Bonus points if you
- Have built HR operations while a company scaled from around 20 to more than 100 people.
- Have worked with international employment, EOR platforms, contractor compliance or global payroll.
- Have worked in a technical, engineering-heavy or AI/ML organization.
- Have used people analytics tools or dashboards such as Looker or Tableau.
The role offers a competitive salary and equity, a remote-friendly setup, a professional development budget, and access to LLM credits and modern tooling.
