Chai Discovery

Founded in 2024 and headquartered in San Francisco, Chai Discovery is building AI foundation models that help scientists design new medicines by predicting and engineering the interactions between biological molecules.

Rather than relying on traditional trial-and-error drug discovery, the company’s platform enables researchers to generate novel antibodies and other therapeutic molecules from scratch. Its open-source Chai-1 model quickly gained recognition for state-of-the-art biomolecular structure prediction, while later models such as Chai-2 and Chai-3 expanded into AI-powered antibody design with significantly improved success rates.

Chai Discovery works with some of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies, including Pfizer, Eli Lilly, Novartis and argenx, helping accelerate biologics and antibody discovery through its AI platform.

The founding team combines expertise from organizations such as OpenAI, Meta FAIR, Stripe and leading computational biology research groups, bringing together deep experience in machine learning and molecular science.
