Saudi Aramco has closed a deal to take a 49% stake in HUMAIN, Saudi Arabia’s full stack artificial intelligence company, bringing two of the kingdom’s largest AI portfolios under one roof.
The Public Investment Fund retains 51% of HUMAIN, while Aramco takes its stake through a wholly owned subsidiary. Aramco will also transfer key AI assets and contribute about SAR 9.9 billion, or $2.6 billion, in cash during 2026.
What Aramco brings to HUMAIN
Both shareholders will contribute AI assets, capabilities and talent to HUMAIN. Aramco said it expects to use HUMAIN’s AI infrastructure to turn advanced AI capabilities into industrial applications across its own operations.
Aramco also pointed to its existing returns from digital technology. Since 2023, the company said it has achieved $11.3 billion in Technology Realized Value, with a significant portion coming from AI solutions.
HUMAIN’s plan for scale
HUMAIN was launched in May 2025 and is building capabilities across four areas. They are next generation data centers, high performance infrastructure and cloud platforms, advanced AI models, and transformative AI solutions.
Its model work includes ALLaM, described by Aramco as one of the world’s most powerful multimodal Arabic large language models. The company plans to deploy 3 gigawatts of AI data center capacity by 2030 as demand for AI compute grows.
The goal, Aramco said, is for HUMAIN to become one of the leading exporters of AI globally. The transaction also fits PIF’s 2026 to 2030 strategy, which aims to grow national companies into globally competitive leaders.
A deal a year in the making
The closing follows a non-binding term sheet signed by PIF and Aramco in October 2025. That earlier agreement set out the plan for Aramco to take a significant minority stake while PIF kept majority ownership.
Aramco president and chief executive Amin H. Nasser said “The HUMAIN deal is very important to Aramco, building on the company’s long track record of innovation and technology.”
