TrashLab Raises $12M to Put AI Agents to Work for Waste Haulers

TrashLab, a San Francisco startup building software for waste haulers, has raised $12 million in a growth round. The round was led by early-growth investor Ventana, with existing backers Bienville Capital, Harlem Capital and CreativeCo also taking part.

The company will use the funding to accelerate its product roadmap, expand its agentic workflows and grow its go-to-market team. It is also building fully agentic workflows across customer service, dispatch, collections and revenue intelligence, with rollout planned through 2027.

The round and the new board seats

As part of the round, Vinay Kumar, co-founder and partner at Ventana, will join the TrashLab board. Ershad Jamil, former chief growth officer at ServiceTitan and BuildOps, will join as an independent director.

The announcement did not disclose a valuation for the round. It also gave no figure for total funding raised to date.

What TrashLab builds

TrashLab describes itself as an AI-native operating system for waste haulers. It brings customer management, dispatch, routing, billing, payments and reporting into a single platform, replacing spreadsheets, paper routes and older legacy systems.

The platform covers roll-off, residential, commercial and septic work. It also spans call handling and customer management, dispatch and routing, a driver app with in-cab cameras, billing with native payments and back-office reporting.

Its AI order-taking agent, Haul-E, answers inbound calls and captures orders outside business hours. Nearly 80 percent of TrashLab customers now use Haul-E, according to the company.

Why haulers are switching

“We built TrashLab to eliminate those silos and give haulers complete visibility into their operations, margins, and profitability,” said Neil Chaudhary, co-founder and chief executive of TrashLab.

Chaudhary said haulers had been forced to choose between outdated tools and platforms that could not handle more than one line of business. TrashLab aims to give those operators one system that covers every part of the job.

The company says haulers have managed more than 5 million tons of material on its platform since launch. It now serves hundreds of haulers across more than 40 states in the United States and Canada.

Annual contract value has grown more than sevenfold since 2024, the company said, as customers adopt additional modules across their lines of business.

What comes next

In the coming months, TrashLab plans to expand its engineering, go-to-market and customer success teams. The hiring push will support the rollout of its new agentic workflows through 2027.

Founded in 2022 by Neil Chaudhary and John Tan, TrashLab is based in San Francisco. Chaudhary previously worked as a consultant at BCG and EY-Parthenon, while Tan was a senior engineer at Stripe and Google.

Professor Derpy's Notes

I once missed bin day by a full day, so an agent that takes orders at midnight feels like the memory upgrade I never got.
